Question 1
In this blog I will be discussing my ideas and thoughts about how I think the start of the film opening should be.
Me and my partner both agree on that we want the story to have a very mysterious vibe but we want it to start of with suspense of something scary to keep the viewers on edge right at the start of the opening. It is common for many films to start off their psychological horror film like that. They start it off with automatic suspense.
My ideas for how I would want the film to start are I want the film to start of music like the one at the beginning of "Get Out" I would like for the film to start with that music one head light with a dark figure of a person standing there and as we show you an important person to the main character the dark figure comes closer and closer until when the figure is there the person just poof disappears. I really want to do that scene as a POV so the viewers can see it in the eyes of the character. Me and my partner want that to be a flashback and we will show it by making an instantaneous cut to the main characters life. We want to keep the lighting dark and eerie to keep the mysterious vibe.We both know this is a 2 minute film opening but we want to make sure the audience watching is watching it as if its a full on film. We want to give the audience our full and complete attention.
In this blog I will be talking about my ideas for how I will start my production.
It is really up to me for starting production my partner has been waiting on me and there has been times I am waiting on him both our schedules are very busy most of time so we have not had a real chance to start on production. We are planning to start working on it very soon. During spring break we will try to spend as much time as possible working on it together. We have both been thinking for our film opening to start off with a traumatizing event happening to the main character that would scar them and start the spiral of the main characters mental descent. We are planning to catch up on production so later on it will not be a disaster for us but we will start working on production very soon. But we are planning to start it in the order of brainstorming ideas and taking practice shots at areas we think could be fitting for our film.
In this blog I will be talking about on my plans for story boarding and what production timeline might be.
Today I will be talking about my plans for the script writing.
First we should look at film openings of other films to see what ways to start the film. One of my favorites is "Scream" in scream they start off the film with tension and suspense with the famous phone call scene. In the scene they start off with a person being threatened on the phone by ghost face. That famous scene is known for building tension and suspense in the start of the film that scene was the scene that caught many peoples attentions. That film opening was the start of many great hook openings like that. This scene connects the rest of the movies with the reoccurring phone call by ghost face. For my film opening I will try to incorporate some of the aspects from these my favorite part of both is how they keep it simple and effective.
First I want to talk about the app I will for creating my project use I will use Premier Pro. That is the only app I am the most familiar with due to my experience with it earlier on in the school year. I know how to do many of the basic things from premier pro I know I could use those skills on my film opening.
The difficulties from this would be the skills I do not have mastered while using the app and what I do not know how to do. One of the biggest difficulties I have had with this app is having to do it all on the same device because of its problems sending downloaded data that has already been worked on. This will lower my capabilities of versatility in when and where I work on my film in premier pro.
But even with all that this should not be that big a challenge because me and my partner both know how to use the app well and we both have our own personal laptops at home which can run this program. Though one possible problem cause be the amount of space the files take in the program but me and my partner could find a way to make space for the files this will be the easiest obstacle while making our film opening.
Hello I am Samuel Duque and I will be working with my partner Nikolas Velez. We will be making a film the film genre we have chosen is Horror and the sub genre we chose was Psychological Horror. We chose this sub genre because it is both of our favorite genre. We both love watching horror movies and the mental and emotional aspects of psychological horror really influenced us to pick this genre.
In this blog I will be talking about successful script writings in psychological horror and some of my favorites.
First ill be talking about my personal favorite psychological horror with one of the best script writings in my opinion is "Get Out". "Get Out" is a psychological horror film which the script writing is extremely suspenseful. His script writing perfectly adds fear with suspense and eeriness without using gore. The movie amazingly uses the mental stability of the main character. The main character sanity lowers as he discovers more secrets of his girlfriend a really good way the make the sanity of the main character questioned even more is when they made the main character watch everything happen around him with out being able to do anything. One of the best scenes in when they left him all alone in the dark void that added the feeling of him being all alone. The script writing uses a lot of small aspects that add suspense.A eerie and creepy atmosphere is a really important aspect to make it a successful script writing. A psychological horror movie that focus mainly on jump scares and not the atmosphere will not be as good as a psychological horror movie that focuses mainly on the atmosphere.
When the psychological horror films focus on internalized conflict it always makes the script writing so much better. The horror coming from the characters mind, emotions and isolation makes it have a feeling other films can not give.
The tension building up slowly is a extraordinary skill that makes the script writing in psychological horror so much better. The build up and tension makes the climax so much better it makes you anxious and nervous.
In this blog I will be talking about the publishing of psychological horror.
To publish psychological horror the publisher has to target their target audience. The audience they are targeting is mainly an audience that craves intense suspense, emotional dread, and metal conflicts rather than gore. When publishing psychological horror, the publishes their media on key markets like horror magazines or self-publishing platforms. They also try targeting publishers to get their product out to a bigger demographic.
THE MENTAL
A very important aspect of horror is the way it makes you think whenever you are watching psychological horror. When you are watching psychological horror, it is as if you are trying to solve a mystery. In psychological horror you question everything you see because is out of the ordinary in psychological horror they try to focus on the mental aspect and make everything you see uncomfortable and eerie; it creates a creepy aspect that messed with your mind.THE EMOTIONAL
The difference between regular horror and psychological horror is. Regular horror focuses more deeply on the thrill and the gore other horror genres use jump scares as main way to scare the viewer and they use a high amount of gore to scare the viewer they also use slashers or monsters chasing the characters as a way or scaring. Meanwhile psychological horror is more about making the viewer feel something. Unlike in regular horror where they use dread and tension to build up suspense in psychological horror they use your emotions and how they made u feel about the character and it brings u be more scared.
